About the Foundation

A collective commitment, held without personal spectacle

Stewarded by Shambhala Monks in service to wisdom, compassion, and sacred culture.

We choose to keep the work collective and the people behind it largely private. The mission—not individual recognition—is the public centre.

Our Identity

Shambhala Foundation

Temple of Shambhala Foundation emblem

Shambhala Foundation is the public name of TEMPLE OF SHAMBHALA FOUNDATION, an Indian Section 8 company limited by guarantee and incorporated under the Companies Act, 2013.

The Foundation exists to steward the wider Shambhala vision through compassionate service, education, publishing, sacred culture, pilgrimage, and the careful development of future places of practice and gathering.

The work is guided collectively by Shambhala Monks. Individual monks are not presented as public personalities, and monastic partners are not named without their consent. This anonymity is not an absence of responsibility; it is a conscious refusal to make service depend upon celebrity or personal credit.

Let the work be visible. Let the self remain quiet.

How We Hold the Work

Collective, careful, and long-term

Privacy and accountability are designed to coexist.

  1. Collective stewardship

The public identity is the Foundation and the shared body of Shambhala Monks.

  2. Privacy with consent

Monks, recipients, partners, and communities choose whether and how they are named.

  3. Clear institutional facts

Legal identity, policies, program status, and contribution terms are stated plainly.

  4. No personality cult

The site does not build authority through biographies, spiritual celebrity, or personal marketing.

  5. Evidence that grows

Public reporting becomes more detailed as programs and capacity mature.
